Elizabeth Vianna is known for her powerful and elegant Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon. She uses the prized fruit from 121 acres of estate vineyards in the heart of the Stags Leap District to create Terlato Family Vineyards Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon.
Elizabeth Vianna attributes her career in winemaking to a glass of 1985 Sociando Mallet, which she enjoyed at a pre-auction tasting at Christie’s in New York. Elizabeth was originally on the pre-medical school track at Vassar College until she fell in love with wine while living in New York City. Her strong science background and sudden infatuation with wine propelled her to apply to the University of California - Davis, and its renowned winemaking program instead of medical school.
In 2009 Vianna was honored by the UC - Davis School of Graduate Studies when she was invited by the Dean of Graduate Studies to deliver the commencement speech to the class of 2009. She is frequently selected for tasting panels and judging wine competitions. She has also served as the vice president of the Stags Leap District Winegrower’s Association executive board.
Elizabeth works to cultivate the most flavorful fruit in a variety of single vineyards, including her signature Cabernet Sauvignon and also Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petite Verdot.
