All wines start in the vineyard. Great wines only come from the very best terroir and Napa Valley is blessed with arguably the best Cabernet Sauvignon terroir in the world.
Terlato Family Vineyards is honored to present to you our sixth vintage of EPISODE, which represents the culmination of a lifetime of passion and love of fine wine. Head Winemaker Doug Fletcher reflects on the 2006 vintage, “After the stunning harvest in 2005 with its bumper crop, the vines in 2006 gave us a smaller quantity of fruit, but focused their energy on intensely colored berries with unbelievable concentration of flavor. Fruit like this is a dream in the winery. The grapes are like little jewels filled with intense juice and wrapped with skins full of silky, but firm tannins that will bind the wine together.”
Each year the winemaker group tastes through hundreds of separate lots searching for intensity of flavor and characteristics of the varietal to express our vision of a Bordeaux blend. The 2006 EPISODE blends 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot; each contributes its own unique voice to the chorus. The wine is clearly a product of its soil (terroir), reflecting the intensity and complexity possible from Napa Valley fruit. The scent of blackberry and cassis in the nose leads to a burst of fruit flavors in the mouth. Though rich and intense at release, it begs for time in the cellar to unfold the complexity that’s apparent at first taste.
